Many of my customers complain about this problem (MSN taking a long time to load, making their PC useless during that time).
What I do, is to go into (log into) their MSN account, and then change the options, so that it does not automatically start up when you log in.
This solves their problem, plus it has another, possibly important benefit; namely that when you do start it (MSN) up, all of the 'booting up' stuff has been completed.
Now, I don't have any really hard evidence about this, but I've always suspected that 'your' (in the general sense) computer isn't really ready to use, until all of the 'booting up' stuff has been completed. You can tell when it is completed, by looking at your 'hard disk' light, and waiting until it goes (mostly) dark.
I have found, empirically, that waiting until until all of the 'booting up' stuff has been completed, before actually 'using' your computer, seems to greatly reduce the likelihood of 'strange' problems occurring, like crashes and other weird stuff.
